National Parks

Although the beach and ocean is a major draw card to the Sunshine Coast area, we also boast a huge number of National Parks and conservation areas. One of the best displays of the area’s biodiversity is the Noosa Everglades region. A short boat trip up the Noosa River, past Lake Cootharaba and the historical Boreen Point brings you to the magnificent Noosa Everglades. A variety of canoe tours and guided boat tours is the best way to see the wildlife and picturesque scenery.
The Noosa Hinterland area is just a short 15 minute drive from Noosa Heads, and has a huge number of walking tracks and mountain bike trails weaving through the semi-tropical rainforests and bush, where you will more than likely see Kangaroos, Wallabies, birdlife and if you are lucky enough, Koalas.
Mount Coolum is also a very popular, more local place for a mountain top view. If the season is right (cooler months) you can often see whales just off the shore, on their regular migratory mission to the nesting waters off Hervey Bay.
